The start of our 5th year! Typically we celebrate all 12 days of Christmas, ending in an Intimate Music Series Concert. Epiphany (the Twelfth Day) is traditionally thought the arrival of the wise men to bring gifts and worship the newly born baby Jesus. In England, this was a time for the well off citizens to help the poor.
This year finds us reaching way back to the early days of western music where we encounter odd and difficult to control early instruments that are forerunners of our modern instruments. We will hear both sacred and secular songs accompanied by sackbuts (trombone ancestors), dulcians (bassoon ancestor), rackett (dead end - no modern relatives!), and so on. Courtney Bray will join in to add vocals to some of the vocals..
